Servathon 2012 Experience

It took me so long to share my new mommy milestone. Pardon me, this is a super late blog entry. And this time it has something to do with environmental issues. Garbage, trash, trees, climate change and likes. Finally, I joined an environment friendly project after several numbers of sign ups but no show.

It is FIRST TIME to join a clean up drive with my colleagues and with other known companies through Be Hands-On Manila's Servathon 2012.

My personal reasons for not joining in the past?

I'm a mom, it happens most on weekends. I'm like, I'd rather stay at home and be with my kids. In addition to that, tree planting and clean up drive seems to be so boring to me and not my thing. I'm filling out my mind of "it requires me to wake up so super early in the morning and yet it is weekend" and I keep on thinking that I can't bear the scorching hot weather, I don't like the idea of sun bathing for hours! Yeah,  closed minded and a little over negative. That's how I was.

What triggered me to join?

I saw my colleagues photos taken from the past activities. They look happy and got FREEBIES! hahaha! I want those freebies too. So I told myself that I must be with them on the next project --- here comes Servathon 2012. The freebies!

In action

When we arrived in the location, I was captivated. I felt people around me are excited and looking forward so much in the activity. I admit, I got intrigued and started to think deeply over this. The energy and bunch of happy faces of the people around blown me away and took me to "positivity".

We were assigned to collect all kinds of rubber and all shoe garbage. I can tell, I had fun cleaning along with others. I'm looking forward to join activities like this in the future... Addicting. Happy me!

Let me share some of the snap shots taken during the activity.

Life changing.

Yes. I learned a lot from this activity. I was able to found out that even if I'm a busy mom, I was able  to participate an  extra educational, fun and beneficial activity. I'm happy that at least I tried. I've realized that even if you're with anyone be it in a group whether you go solo, if your aim is to do good or beneficial to other people. Go for it and it will make you feel good not just for a day.

Go, go, go!!!!

That's all folks!
